GM has announced that it will release the second generation of Chevy Traverse known as 2017 year model after its first generation model of 8 years. If you didn’t know, the first Traverse model was launched in 2008 and named Chevy Traverse 2009 year model. The manufacturer has also revealed that this 2017 Chevy Traverse model will be a full-size crossover SUV, expected to come fully redesigned after eight years of modifications.
2017 Chevy Traverse engine and fuel economy
The first generation model has been an appeal to many people because of its reliable engine. The manufacturer has therefore promised that the 2017 model will keep the current engine. This means, the model will maintain a 3.6-liter V6 unit, which is enough for 270 pound-feet of torque and 288 hp. Besides the current engine, the 2017 model is expected to come with another additional engine. However, the exact unit of the second engine has not been officially revealed. Reports indicate that the second engine will have better fuel economy, but also this claim has not yet been proven.
Another good feature that the 2017 Traverse model will have is General Motor’s new 9-speed automatic transmission. This feature will enable power transmission to either front or all the four wheels. This means the 2017 year model will have better fuel efficiency compared the current model.
2017 Chevy Traverse Exterior Redesign and new Interor
This vehicle model will be based on GM’s Lambda platform, a platform used by new models such as Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia. The vehicle’s capacity will be able to accommodate up to eight passengers. The first generation will be modified further to make it more modern. It will have a longer wheelbase and an improved front grille with a restyled fascia.
Since the 2017 model will have a longer wheelbase, the vehicle’s space and comfort will not be compromised. The interior side is expected to be Minimalized with two color schemes for an elegant appearance. The cabin will be light brown and black. The model’s technological features such as display features and entertainment systems will be improved for pampered ride. The model will also feature an improved dashboard complete with the latest technology touch-screen display, auto-adjusting seats and other standard features.
The size of the 2017 Chevy Traverse will change quite a bit compared to the current model. The model will have the same height and width as the current model, but with decreased body length. The overall dimensions will be 5 173 mm in length by 991 mm in width by 1 770 mm in height. The model’s wheelbase will be 3 019 mm with a ground Clearance of 183 mm.
The weight of the 2017 model will also change slightly. The new generation model will weigh approximately 2 150 kg.
