The untamed bull 2017 Lamborghini Urus is ready to roll out
Automobili Lamborghini is famous for extravagance, exhilarating thrills, ultra-futuristic design and an unmistakable prowess for brute force on roads. When the exotic sports and supercar brand initially started off, they were manufacturing trucks and gran tourism’s (grand touring cars) to compete with models from the likes of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Ever since their first sports car, the Muira, Lamborghini has redefined sports car engineering, a maverick brand that is like no other. And that was exactly 49 years ago.
Today, Lamborghini has perhaps become even more legendary, having taken their heritage forward and becoming a living legend. 2017 Lamborghini Urus is set to put yet another extraordinary milestone to an astonishingly legendary repute. Only the second SUV to be manufactured by Lamborghini since the LM002 from 1986 to 93, the Urus was first unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show on the 23rd of April 2012. Named after the extinct race of wild Eurasian cattle, the Aurochs, this super SUV is one bull that will not be tamed.
Whenever Lamborghini has launched a vehicle it has created sensations, smashed records and captivated popular culture and media like flies to carcass. With the imminent launch of 2017 Urus, this SUV will at first compete in a class of its own. Top-of-the-line SUV’s currently available; like the Range Rover Supercharged, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, BMW X6 M, Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, and the upcoming Bentley Bentayga SUV will be panting to catch up with this amazing super SUV. CEO at Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann declared in 2013 that sales potential for Urus is estimated at 3,000 units per year.
2017 Lamborghini Urus Monstrous exterior relief
2017 Lamborghini Urus looks like a raging bull indeed. The sensual yet distinctly predatory curves and muscles on 2017 Urus make it look like a heavy behemoth that could challenge a Hummer, but in reality the Urus would be astonishingly lightweight; in fact it may be the lightest SUV ever built, with the Urus Concept weighing just 220 lbs. (100kilos), being heavily built on a carbon fibre body and engine setup. The chassis has been based on the MLB-Evo platform by Volkswagen that has been used by all brands under the brand since 2013.
An evolutionary grille design, split four-ways by a nose plate, has two pentagonal bullet shaped boxes on either side, below the signature Lamborghini headlights, and an ever-so-narrow upper grille and a wide lower one. The rear fascia is as futuristic as Lamborghini’s get, being heavily based on the Huracan; with a pair of dual-split penta-bullet shaped exhausts, and razor sharp taillights.
2017 Lamborghini Urus Stellar interiors
A very simple way to explain the interiors of 2017 Lamborghini Urus would be that it is the closest thing to an alien spaceship you could drive on the roads. An HD touchscreen display interface, stealth bomber-like cockpit fashioned steering cluster, and interiors fashioned out of carbon fibre and polymer are key features of the interiors of this 4-seater SUV. Expect futuristic features not available with any other SUV in this car.
2017 Lamborghini Urus Powertrain configurations
Possible powertrain setups for 2017 Lamborghini Urus could include a 4.0 litre Twin-turbocharged V8 engine giving a gargantuan 600 HP and 700 lb/ft. of torque. This engine can power 2017 Urus to reach 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. The other option could be the 5.2 litre V10 engine from the Huracan. All setups will come with an AWD setup.
2017 Lamborghini Urus Debut and cost
2017 Lamborghini Urus should be commercially available by the end of 2016, and could have an MSRP of $210,000.
