2017 Mercedes GLK looks more than ready to burn up some asphalt
Already impressive Mercedes GLK will be given a timely upgrade with its 2017 edition, to bring the game to its competitors. The current GLK has no issues, except maybe a lack of depth in design. Mercedes plans to change that and more and really set the benchmark for the small SUV market by the time all its competitors introduce their new ensembles. Mercedes SUVs have already proved to be high on utility, features and safety. 2017 Mercedes GLK will be available in 2 variants, GLK 250 and GLK 350. The GLK series should be an exciting entry to their SUV assembly in the next couple of years.
2017 Mercedes GLK Glamorous exteriors
Whatever else they may miss out on, what Mercedes never fail to achieve, is a sublime look on their SUVs that set them apart from others. The 2017 Mercedes GLK will be a 5-seater with 4 doors. There will be similarities to previous models like the GLC in terms of design but will be heavier and have more rigidity to it to focus on off-roading pedigree instead of sporty sleekness.
A trademark grille remains as in all Mercedes SUVs and below it a reinforced bumper. Powerful halogen headlights for the GLK 250 and the option of even better bi-xenon headlights for GLK 350 will be available. Front and rear fog lamps with LED strips over them and another pair beneath have been added. The muscular body is not as sleek as the GLC but definitely more imposing than it.
Mercedes officials have discussed how the design philosophy of this 2017 GLK is based on sensual purity, old-school off-roading pedigree and modern aesthetics. The bold, smooth curves on the body are tense, precise and compact. The subtle, yet powerful build on the GLK is characteristic of Mercedes’ signature style of making visually appealing off-roaders which set the standards in off-roading utility.
2017 Mercedes GLK Interiors that set the benchmark
Like the previous GLC series, 2017 Mercedes GLK will have a state-of-the-art interior setup that few brands out there can match up with. Starting from a telescopic leather steering wheel, premium leather upholstery to spoil anyone, to heat-packs under every seat; the features in this car seems endless. The dashboard is fitted with a freestanding 7 inch infotainment touchscreen console, a Mercedes COMAND electronics interface, HDMI, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a satellite radio, wireless data link for smartphone and iPod and dual-zone automatic climate control.
There are optional LCD screens for rear passengers. Safety features will include head-airbags for all seats, dual front side airbags, and dual front knee airbags for the driver, a rear-view camera. Extra features included are ambient lighting, split-folding rear seats, and a panoramic roof.
2017 Mercedes GLK Powertrain options leave you spoilt for choices
The 2017 Mercedes GLK, being released in two variants, will likewise come with the option of two different drivetrain setups. The first variant will most likely be a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine churning out 302 HP and 273lb ft of torque, with a fuel efficiency of 21 miles/gallon. The second will possibly be a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit which generates around 200 HP and 369lb ft of torque with a fuel economy expected to be a shade better than its sibling, at 28 miles/gallon.
2017 Mercedes GLK Debut and cost
2017 Mercedes GLK should be launched by the end of 2015 or early 2016 and should carry a base tag of $ 40,000.
